 Simple like the wind...

Jahara adjusted her scarf so her face was not showing. She hid herself behind Hawa as if the chocolate mare would protect her. The bay mare turned her head to look at the human leading her. Jahara smiled underneath her scarf and patted the mares neck. It had been three days since the death of the foal. Jahara's heart went out to the small colt that was buried somewhere out there in the desert. She could still remember its little gray form. Dappled in the moonlight that shone on it. A still born. Jahara watched with tears running down her face as Al Hawa stood and nudged the colt. But it was too late. Now the man in charge had ordered Jahara to burn the birth weight off of Al Hawa. The poor bay mare had no time to grieve. Its alright Hawa, you shall have another, and this foal will be famous or have Allah strike me down where I stand she whispered to the mare. Al Hawa's ears perked at the sound of the girl that cared for her. She had plenty of time to think about the death of her son as the wind ripped through her mane. The girl had been ordered to ride the weight off of her and start anew. Al Hawa was one of the fastest mares in the barn and favored by her Sheik. Jahara had been betrothed to the Shiek but when he saw her skill with the horses he made her Al Hawa's personal groom. Jahara patted the mares sweat crusted flanks and led her toward the stable for a good rub down. In the distance she saw the small form of a white colt. Or was it just the desert getting to her? Jahara didnt know she just wished to back in the barn with nothing but the smell of horses to comfort her....

Raheeb walked his fiery stallion up to the area to cool him down. He watched the stag prance and dance is beautiful sleek black bodice of the champion he owned. He made sure his hair was covered tho as it was something men must do but they did not need to cover there faces like women. He felt his stag tug on the reins and then looked to what he was looking at. He saw a thin woman and her mare and instantly knew he was looking at the bay mare that looked to have just had a foal. He noticed the girl but didnt say much as he wasnt really to talk to girls as she could be promised to another. So he turned his attention back to the champion in his hands "Easy Raja.." He said trying to calm the stag abit.

Jahara felt Al Hawa's gaze lift to another presence in the cool off area. Her green eyes followed the mares gaze and she found herself looking at an Arab boy about her same age. She smiled under her scarf the wiped it off of her face. He couldnt see the smile anyway and she was forbidden to look at men lest her eyes commit a sin. Hawa whinnied loudly at the stallion her voice echoing over the rocks and sand. Jahara pulled the mares head down a bit. She kept walking and when she was within earshot she spoke. Shalom to you she said her voice soft although it seemed to echo off the mountains and if the guards didnt hear her speak outloud they would most certainly hear her thumping heart.

Raheeb felt again the tug of his stag. He looked at him again only to hear the mares loud call. Raja turned his ears erect towards the mare and then let a loud whinny back to the mare. Raheeb gave the stag some pressure upon the bit but Raja had different thoughts. Raja raised his sleek bodice into the air and let his forelimbs thrash out. He was a pure arabian stallion and they were known to have a temper and to have spirit. Raja was everything someone would look for in an arabian. He was pure perfection. Raheeb let his stag rear but then brought him back down into a prance. He then heard the voice from the girl who seemed to be his age..he then said quietly almost a whisper "Shalom to you" he said quietly paying more attention to the stag who refused to be calm..

Jahara looked around. No one was about in the area to hear her speak. Come on a little talking never hurt... she trailed off as her mind wandered to an execution she had heard of a woman who had spoken outloud to an unknown man. She shivered slightly and turned her head to look around. Al Hawa nickered to the stallion. Jahara could see now that the stallion could be considered equine perfection. The stallion had spirit. It was easy for anyone to see that he was a terror no doubt. Perhaps not for the man that held him. Al Hawa nickered again. Hello there my names Hawa she said to the stallion. Jahara pulled her head down a little bit and tugged on the lead.

Raheeb noticed no one was about. He then heard her talk again and then said "Well my name is Raheeb may I have the blessing to know yours?" He said alittle louder yet he was still alert for anyone. People seemed to always pop out at the wrong times. He then heard the mare nicker again and waited for Raja. To his surprise Raja had grown a bit closer and seemed to calm alittle he just returned it with a nicker and the little toss of the head. Raja heard the mare talk and then said "Lo' I'd be Raja" he said with a nicker back to her.. He felt Raheeb tork on the lead to pay attention but he refused again...

Jahara looked around and pulled Al Hawa closer once more. Looking under the mares throat latch she removed her scarf from around her face. Grinning wickedly she smiled. Jahara she said smiling. This time he was able to see her grin and it went well with those rebellious green eyes that sparkled in the desert sun. Its a pleasure to meet you Raheeb she said stroking Al Hawa's neck. The bay mare craned her head and turned back to Raja. Pleasure to meet you Raja she said whickering to him. Her small delicate ears swiveled this way and that listening for sounds of any other human or horse. Mares were forbidden to speak with stallions just as Jahara was forbidden to speak with the arab man that held Raja's lead.

Raheeb watched as she removed the cloth from her face. He looked at her gorgeous green eyes. He let a smile cross his face he liked her rebelious side it was something he had every once in a while. He then said "Its nice to meet you to Jahara" he said alittle more relaxed. He then said "What is your mares name?"...

Raja listened to the mare talk. He then said "As it is to meet you Hawa..." he said. He had calmed a bit but his banner was still held high and his ears erect listening to everything that was around him. He knew it was wrong to talk to a mare but he did it anyways.

Jahara's grin widened as she saw him relax. Good! It was obvious now he wasnt the kind of stable boy to rat her out to the nearest Sheik. Her dark brown hair was shoved up in a wrap around her head and although she longed to let it out she decided against it. Her green eyes sparkled as she looked around the desert terrain scouting for any trouble. She looked at Al Hawa as he asked the mares name. Al Hawa for she is as fast as the wind she said fondling the mares ears.

Al Hawa looked at the stallion Raja. Ever thought of escaping I hear there is an Oasis not far from here she said indicating with her nose the direction she had been told. She wasnt quite sure if she wanted to escape her life was wonderful in the stable.

Raheeb listened to the girl and then said " This is Raja hes named by pure Champion" He knew he was bragging alittle but he couldnt help it. He loved his fiery stag. He looked to Raja as he tried to get the attention of the mare.

Raja listened to the mare and then said "Yes I have but the choice has never really hit me, I have a life here with my human" He grunted at her. He looked at her sleek bodice. He pranced and arched his boa. He was pure arabian more like pure pain in the ass.

Jahara looked at the stallion held by Raheeb. Her eyes did not linger on the stallion for long they found their way slowly back up to Raheeb. She didnt need to be a smart girl to see he was incredibly good looking. She had never truly been interested in men and when Sheik Farid had claimed her as a bride she had refused him. Luckily though he saw her skill with horses as an asset. He is beautiful she said though her eyes still held their place upon Raheeb.

Al Hawa knew the stallion pranced for her. She herself flung her tail a little higher and lifted her hooves from the dirt. She tossed her mane. She felt Jahara's feelings shoot from calm as her heartbeat raced. What had the girl so excited. Turning her head slightly she saw Jahara staring at the boy that led Raja. Turning her tapered dished face back to Raja her eyes sparkled with silent laughter. Looks like Jahara has a crush on your human she said. [i]And shes not the only one to like a male[/b] she thought silently staring keenly at Raja.
